Since the announcement of Android 4.0 (Ice cream sandwich) there seems to have been an influx of Chinese tablet pc coming onto Amazon and most get a good tablet pc review. This is pretty much unique to Android tablets, however, what are all these tablet pcs and are they any good? Elsewhere on the site I've looked at the issues with cheap Android Tablet pcs but they are, on the whole, pretty good. Sony are adding style to the Android tablet PC market, and taking on Apple to boot. The Tablet S is Sony's first attempt in the tablet arena and they have sensibly opted to use Android and not develop their own operating system like HP, or RIM (manufacturers of Blackberry) As you can see from the image here, it looks very sexy and is really unlike any other Android tablet released to date. First Quarter Android Sales Slump
According to Taipe Times Android sales of tablets slowed down this quarter, but Apple with the iPad are continuing to increase their market share. However, global shipments reached 17.4 million in the first three months of this year, which is actually up 120 percent on a year ago, but down over 38 percent on the fourth quarter last year. The worry is that the quarterly decline was worse than many analyst feared. For me it really depends how you interpret these statistics. You could argue that the fourth quarter of last year would be the time leading up to Christmas and sales would surely be strong.
